Manhattan D.A. and DOI Commissioner Announce Arrest of Bola Alade-Gbami for Timesheet Fraud

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr. and Department of Investigation (DOI) Commissioner Margaret Garnett announced the arrest of Bola Alade-Gbami on charges of timesheet fraud. Alade-Gbami, a city worker, is accused of falsifying timesheets to claim payment for hours not worked, resulting in the theft of thousands of dollars from taxpayers.

Bola Alade-Gbami faces multiple charges, including grand larceny, falsifying business records, and offering a false instrument for filing. The investigation revealed that Alade-Gbami submitted numerous fraudulent timesheets over an extended period, claiming payment for hours when they were either not present or had not yet arrived at work. As a result, Alade-Gbami allegedly defrauded the city of approximately $8,000.

In a joint statement, District Attorney Bragg and Commissioner Garnett emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity in public service. "Timesheet fraud is a serious offense that undermines public trust and wastes taxpayer dollars," said Bragg. "We will continue to work closely with the DOI to hold those who engage in such fraudulent activities accountable."

Commissioner Garnett added, "Our city employees have a responsibility to serve our communities honestly and fairly. When that trust is violated, it erodes public confidence in our workforce. DOI is committed to working with the District Attorney's Office to identify and prosecute individuals who engage in this type of misconduct."

While authorities have not disclosed specific details about Alade-Gbami's workplace, they have reiterated their commitment to preventing fraud and corruption within city government through ongoing investigations and collaboration between agencies.

As the case against Bola Alade-Gbami proceeds, it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of transparency and accountability among public employees. It also highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement and investigative agencies to combat fraud and ensure that city workers fulfill their duties with integrity and honesty.
